You won’t be able to make or receive incoming calls from the emergency services if you don’t have a landline phone. Broadband lets you have broadband without a landline.
If you have opted for Broadband only, you will not be able to retrieve your number. This will also apply if you switch providers.
They must be made on your mobile device. With Broadband only, you won’t have a dial tone and won’t be able to make calls on your landline. 999 calls, other emergency calls, and calls to premium numbers are included.
If you’ve chosen a Broadband-only plan, you won’t have a dial tone. You don’t have landline phone service because your package does not include it. Please call customer service from your mobile phone if you have a broadband package with us that includes a landline phone service and you do not have a dial tone. A customer service representative will assist you.
Fibre to the cabinet or ‘FTTC’ is the tried and tested standard superfast home fibre broadband technology that Giant communications, offers to it’s residential customers. Fibre broadband is sent through fibre optic cables from your nearest telephone exchange, to the green cabinet on your street which is then connected to your home over traditional copper lines. The maximum download speed FTTC can deliver is 80 megabits per second with a maximum upload speed of 20 megabits per second.
The latest technology we use is fibre to the premises (FTTP) which is the latest way Giant can reliably connect your lovely home to our expanding home broadband network. This is quickest way for us to connect your home address to our Lightning-fast network. Our superfast full fibre broadband allows you and your family to take full advantage the UK’s fastest internet speeds (upto 1 Gigabit per second). FTTP is rather new, you may have to wait until Openreach have upgraded your local network infrastructure before it’s available to you.
If you are calling a regular analogue landline telephone the quality of your call quality will be slightly better than a regular analogue traditional telephone call, limited by only one side of the call being our business grade HD VoIP quality . If you are calling another VoIP phone you will get a much higher quality call in full business quality HD VoIP. In any event, the call quality will be superior to what you are used to in both cases. That’s exactly why we don’t tie our customers into a contract, we don’t need to – we know they will love the quality, product and service at a fraction of the cost of a regular analogue service.
Yes, to request a geographic number port, you can contact our sales line to discuss transferring your landline prior to ordering.
Simple transfers where your provider releases your number speedily will take between 8 – 20 days. Single lines transfer across at the lower end of this timescale & multi lines on the higher end. Please do make sure you upload your ID documents as quickly as possible & we will submit your transfer as fast as we can. You can also specify a future date if you’d prefer!
VoIP or “Voice over Internet Protocol” is a technology that uses the Internet to make telephone calls, instead of traditional analogue phone lines. That basically means if you have WiFi or a good quality 3/4G connection you can make and receive calls using data. Its a modern way of making a phone call if you like and the quality is far superior to your regular analogue phone line, although most people can’t tell the difference. A lot of people stereotype VoIP with consumer type VoIP services; there is no comparison. We operate our own carrier grade network that delivers calls to you, using business quality HD VoIP technology. The call quality is the best available from old and new technology.

Start by checking which service is available for your address. Once you have have checked which products are available for your address, you can continue to processing your order and booking in your service installation date.
Once you’ve successfully processed your order, we will quickly get back to you with an arranged installation date for your new install. As your install date begins to get closer, we will then ship out the appropriate equipment for your new services.
Once Openreach/our engineers have arrived and successfully installed your new services, you’ll be up and running in a jiffy!
